The release date for Horizon: Zero Dawn’s sequel has been pushed back to 2022, and with it a new trailer.

We recently reported on a rumor that Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Forbidden West, the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, might be delayed. That has now been verified. The game will now be released on February 18, 2022, according to the developer, who revealed the news at Gamescom.
Horizon Forbidden West was supposed to be released this autumn, but neither Guerrilla nor Sony ever gave a definite release date for that 2021 timeframe. We now know when it will be released, and that pre-orders for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 will begin on September 2.
Game Director Mathijs De Jonge stated in a Gamescom video that the team intended to polish the game as much as possible before publishing it.
He continued by saying that “It’s no surprise that the worldwide epidemic had a significant effect on our employees. While keeping our staff safe and emphasizing a good work-life balance, we’ve been adapting to new processes and all the difficulties. But now, we can officially announce that our long-awaited sequel will be released on February 18th, 2022, for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.”
Horizon Forbidden West was unveiled during Sony’s Future of Gaming event in 2020, among other noteworthy titles like Demon’s Souls and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
Guerrilla Games has also published a new patch for anyone wanting to get the most performance out of Horizon Zero Dawn on PS5. On PlayStation 5, patch 1.53 allows HZD to run at 60 frames per second. “Unlocks framerate to 60… in backwards compatibility mode,” according to the patch notes, “fixes streaming performance problem… in backwards compatibility mode, [and] removes Graphics Mode option from the Visual Settings… in backwards compatibility mode.”
