Jagged Alliance 3 is a “true sequel to the core” of the series that isn’t just a rehash. It’s an opportunity for new players to get into the franchise, while veterans can enjoy it as well.
The Celtic Kings 3 is a true sequel to the core of the Jagged Alliance series. It has been developed by a new team, and includes all of the features from previous games in the series.
THQ Nordic announced today that Haemimont Games, the company behind the Tropico series and Surviving Mars, is now working on Jagged Alliance 3.
Jagged Alliance 3 will be a “real sequel to the main series,” according to the publisher, with a “large cast of mercenaries” from which players may select before embarking on missions. Buns, Vicki, Ivan, Fidel, and Tex will all be back, but we’ll also be able to control new characters.
Each mercenary has their own personality and traits, which can be seen in how they interact with NPCs and how they react to the environment around them. Grand Chien is the setting for the game, which is described as “a country plunged into turmoil when a ruthless paramilitary group known as ‘the Legion’ seized control.”
Freedom is also taken seriously in the title. Players may travel Grand Chien, a fictitious nation, and learn more about their environment while making choices with long-term effects. Far from being a linear experience, the people you speak to and the things you do may seem to alter the course of the game.
Jagged Alliance 3 will include deep turn-based combat as well as contemporary weaponry and equipment. To get things to sound correct, the developer has done “quite a bit of study.”
According to a short peek of gameplay we saw at a press event earlier this week, Jagged Alliance 3 follows in the footsteps of its predecessors in terms of turn-based tactics. Players command four-character teams into missions, using the abilities of each member to accomplish goals.
You may aim at several areas of your target’s body, with the probability of hitting being explicitly shown in tooltips. You may also throw grenades, and there was a weather indicator in the video, which might indicate that weather conditions played a part.
Character movement is dependent on action points, and mercs may be leveled up and given perks to help them become more powerful. The game also includes exploration, looting, and weapon customization.
There will also be a “meta layer” in Jagged Alliance 3 that “is about getting out there and controlling territory.” ” You may manage several squads and get a satellite view of the condition of various places. The publisher said that capturing a region allows you to increase the local people, but opponents would react in kind.
There are presently plans for Jagged Alliance 3 to include full co-op multiplayer, but because the game is “very actively in production,” any of the features we saw may change.
Jagged Alliance 3 is coming to PC, although no release date has been set yet.
